The Water Authority–Cayman is testing new smart water meter technology through its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Pilot Project. These smart meters can automatically send water usage data to the Authority, helping improve billing accuracy, detect leaks faster, and give customers a clearer picture of how they use water.

The pilot will test two different meter systems and two different communication methods to see which works best in our local environment. The results will inform a full-scale AMI rollout in the future.
