Water Authority Adjusts Operations

Water Authority Adjusts Operations
24 March, 2020
Edlyn Ruiz Stoll 949-2837

Water Authority has made adjustments to its operations following the Government’s confirmation of an additional positive COVID-19 case, and its call to “shelter in place”.

The Authority’s Grand Cayman office will close its Customer Service response team at 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday 24 March), and switch to its emergency hotline 946-HELP (946-4357). Customers in Cayman Brac who require potable water can do so by calling 948-1403 during the reduced hours of 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

During this lock-down period the Authority will focus on providing ‘essential services’ only. Essential services mean services that ensure customers have water supply and wastewater services, and includes responding to any water service issues active customers may experience. Customers who experience service interruption should call the Authority’s emergency hotline 946-HELP (946-4357).

Interaction with the Authority’s Customer Service team will be limited, but customers can still make queries via email, info@waterauthority.ky, however, there may be a delayed response time.  Customers seeking to make a payment can do so online by visiting www.waterauthority.ky and clicking the “Pay My Bill” button on the home page, or online via the bank. Customers can also pay via cheque utilising the drop box at the Authority's Red Gate Office. Cash payments can also be made over the counter at the bank or at the Airport and Savannah Post Office in Grand Cayman and the West End Post Office in Cayman Brac.

The Authority’s Operations Department will be on standby to deal with emergencies, such a repairing a broken water main. The team will also provide any critical infrastructure services as required by the National Emergency Operations Centre.

As the situation continues to develop the Authority encourages its customers and the public to remain calm, and take actions to prevent the spread of the virus. We can all play our part by practising social distancing and washing hands frequently with soap and water, to lessen the impact of the virus on our community.
