Public Service Announcement: Unprecedented Demand for Water in Cayman Brac

Public Service Announcement: Unprecedented Demand for Water in Cayman Brac

Water Authority – Cayman would like to advise customers in Cayman Brac that due to the large increase in demand of water over the past 2-3 months, the Authority has had to make the difficult decision of limiting a trucked water order quantity to 2000 gallons to manage the supply.

This limitation will allow the Authority to ensure that all trucked water customers are able to be provided with water, albeit less than their normal order amount. It also allows better management of the storage levels during this period of extraordinary demand, should there be any events of downtime at the plant. Simultaneously, a short-term solution to increase water production capacity at the West End site is being worked on.

It is noted that while the notice of change in the Trucked Water Policy was published via the Authority’s website and social media on 22 March 2023, and continues to be distributed to customers via the Cayman Brac office at the time of deliveries, it seems that not all customers have received the notice.

While it is expected that this limitation will be short-lived and service will soon be back to normal, until such time, all customers are urged to use only what they need, for example, do not waste and conserve where possible.

All customers are asked to periodically check their plumbing, and if storage tanks are being used, these should also be checked. All such leaks identified should be urgently repaired.

Water Authority – Cayman appreciates the understanding of its Cayman Brac customers during this period of unprecedented demand.
